How do you discover your inner child? Play!

URU Yoga Bingo is back! August 2017 Lila…Play! Lila, in Sanskrit, is roughly translated as “play” but it is more than that. While play is so important in life, to get through difficult times and to just have fun, play is also spontaneity. In yogic philosophy, lila, is about creation and the spontaneous creation of the universe. It is also living life with a sense of creative play and allowing life to flow while enjoying the process. ~ Come play with us…Yoga Bingo is back! If you missed it the first time, you get another chance to win some great prizes. We had so much fun last month with Yoga Bingo that we are doing it again. URU and You are Free!

Svatantrya is Ultimate Freedom. July 2017 Svatantrya In Sanskrit the word Svantantrya means ultimate freedom. It is the remembrance and gratitude for our independence, free will, and free choice. It is also the realization that we must use this freedom and choice to live a life of meaning for ourselves and for all beings. Do You Practice Surya Namaskar?

Arrival of Summer Solstice June 2017 Summer Solstice Summer Solstice is a time of year to honor the bright burning star called the Sun. It is also a time to remember that we, like the sun, have the responsibility to shine brightly. This year, the summer solstice falls on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. The earth will tilt on its axis and absorb the most sunlight. At the summer solstice, we will experience the longest day of the year. We are invited into summer with its bright shining sun, warm days and energetic times. We invite heat into our bodies and our minds, opening up to creativity and manifestation. We experience activity and newness. We celebrate the sun and the sun reminds us to shine Surya Namaskar, or sun salutation, is a beautiful practice during the summer solstice. Sun salutations are a moving meditation honoring the light of the sun; for without the sun, life would not exist. Consider practicing sun salutations in the morning before you start your day to warm the body, calm the mind, and honor the sun. We love you, The URU Yoga Crew Like traditional bingo, there will be a card with 25 squares. But on our game, each square will have a yoga or community related task to complete. Each participant that has a winning card will be entered into a drawing for prizes. See the full rules at one of the URU branches. URU in May

Balance & Align May 2017 Balance & Align In Yogic philosophy, the universe is created from a fundamental substance, Prakriti or Shakti. From Shakti, the 3 gunas, emerge forming the essential aspects of all of nature that underlie all matter, life and mind. The 3 Gunas are qualities, threads or primal tendencies. Rajas-energy, activity, turbulence, passion, change, motion Tamas-inertia, dullness, heavy, darkness, sleepiness Sattva-balance, harmony, clarity, intelligence, virtue, rhythm We are constantly balancing these energies to find a sattvic way of living. This month, notice ways to balance your life and align with your Self. Slow down, nurture, and take care of yourself when you are feeling overly extended or full. Take deep breaths and know that saying “no” is often kind and true and will create balance. Challenge yourself, move your body, and engage your mind when you are feeling sluggish or low in energy. Notice if being tired has become a habit and allow yourself to align with more energy. Most importantly, allow yourself to come into balance and align with your truest, deepest Self. When you align with the flow of your deepest Self, support shows up where needed. Please know that you are loved, beautiful, valued and important. URU Yoga in April

April
2017
What is Yoga?

In Sanskrit, the root word of yoga, yuj, means “to yoke” or “to unite”.

Yoga is union.

Kula, in Sanskrit, means community, clan or tribe. Our yoga kula is sacred because we gather together with shared intention and purpose to practice the teachings of yoga through rightful action.

URU means broad, spacious, and abundant.

For URU, Kula and Yoga unite together with the yoga community as a whole. We truly believe that the yoga community is an amazing network of support, balance and connection.

Yoga is Union. Yoga is Presence. Yoga is Community. Yoga is Love. Yoga is Inclusion. Yoga is Connection. Yoga is Compassion. Yoga is Kula.                         Yoga is Rightful Action.

Bikram Pensacola closes it’s beautiful location today, March 31st.

Nicole from Bikram Yoga Pensacola is loved by so many. All I ever hear is how kind she is and what a great teacher she is to the students of Bikram Yoga Pensacola. Nicole carried a token with the words below while in teacher training….

“Change is a door that can only be opened from the inside.”

URU and Nicole Trboyevich are partnering to bring Bikram Method classes at all 4 URU locations for the month of April. Bikram students may fulfill their current packages at URU in Bikram Method classes or any other URU yoga classes and URU students get the opportunity to study Bikram with Nicole.

During the month of April, please welcome Nicole and her students to the studios. Please check the schedule for Bikram Method classes at each studio.

We love you, our Kula,
 The URU Yoga Crew

Then we will move into the layers of the body with a sequence of poses that will be repeated 3 times which focuses on the first 3 layers or sheaths. Next we will move through a powerful cleansing kriya which will prepare us for a wonderful savasana, seated pranayama, and a beautiful mediation whilst we focus on the final 2 Kosha layers of intuition and bliss.
