Teacher Training & Weekend Retreat this month!

Life changing opportunities await you… September 2017 The Yoga Teacher Training Experience… “Teacher training was a transformative, deepening, and a therapeutic process for me. It gave me new skills and experiences to both work on personal issues and spiritual growth and also to use professionally with my clients. The training provided an opportunity to be with authentic and soulful people. We learned and grew from our experiences together.” ~Lindsey Windrow “Teacher training was the single most transformative process of personal development I have experienced in my life. If you’re looking for connection and a place to do some deep work, this training is it.” ~Heather Moller “Teacher training helped me to accomplish a dream ….I am very excited that I actually teach.” ~Donna Anderson “I stepped into teacher training with the intention of deepening my understanding of yoga. What I quickly and inexorably realized was that yoga is deepening the understanding of and connection with the Self. I am so thankful to have taken the first steps down this lifetime path in such a supportive community.” ~Rachel Botts Teacher training begins Friday, September 8! See more info below… URU Yoga Weekend Retreat Experience…. “Letting go of what I wanted people to think of me. I was the raw me. I met, became close and will always have a bond with a lot of other yogis from the retreat. Coldwater Gardens, a piece of heaven and the staff are truly, so real. Jennifer creates amazing meals. It was like the schedule was created for each individual. The personalities and knowledge that Beckie, Kerry and Diane have, touched everyone in a way we needed.” ~Jackie Morrow “My experience at last year’s Fall URU retreat was magical. I didn’t really know anyone going in but while there I felt like I belonged. The URU yoga teachers planned beautiful indoor and outdoor yoga classes. They also created experiences that helped me to step outside myself and build deeper connections to other human beings. Not to mention the food left me feeling refreshed, healthy, and alive. I would highly recommend going to this retreat if you want to “get away” from it all and find a deeper connection to yourself and others.” ~Rebecca Austin 2 URU Retreats coming up! What do improv and yoga have in common? They are both avenues for experiencing the present moment. In yoga, we consciously connect our bodies and minds. In improv, we playfully connect ideas as they arise. Yoga and improv are both practices of stepping out of our own way and allowing our true selves to be free. We will begin with a short yoga practice to connect to our breath and bodies, lead by Emily Barksdale. This will be accessible to all. Bring comfy clothes and an open mind. Laynie Gibson, of Pensacola’s hilarious comedy troupe Improvable Cause, will guide us through exercises and group games that will encourage us to let go of self judgement and liberate ourselves to the present moment. Laynie has studied mindfulness at the University of West Florida and is going to show us how improv and mindfulness enhance our daily lives. Whether you’re a beginner or a veteran, you will find a warm and welcoming environment to play in. So join us as we free ourselves and have fun together! $10 Please be aware that improv is about letting go of self-censorship and inhibitions, so there may (likely) be adult themes and language. It is also living life with a sense of creative play and allowing life to flow while enjoying the process. ~ Come play with us…Yoga Bingo is back! URU and You are Free!

Svatantrya is Ultimate Freedom. July 2017 Svatantrya In Sanskrit the word Svantantrya means ultimate freedom. It is the remembrance and gratitude for our independence, free will, and free choice. It is also the realization that we must use this freedom and choice to live a life of meaning for ourselves and for all beings. Svatantrya is the unbounded freedom that comes from standing firmly on your path. Do You Practice Surya Namaskar?

Arrival of Summer Solstice June 2017 Summer Solstice Summer Solstice is a time of year to honor the bright burning star called the Sun. It is also a time to remember that we, like the sun, have the responsibility to shine brightly. This year, the summer solstice falls on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. The earth will tilt on its axis and absorb the most sunlight. At the summer solstice, we will experience the longest day of the year. We are invited into summer with its bright shining sun, warm days and energetic times. We invite heat into our bodies and our minds, opening up to creativity and manifestation. We experience activity and newness. We celebrate the sun and the sun reminds us to shine Surya Namaskar, or sun salutation, is a beautiful practice during the summer solstice. Sun salutations are a moving meditation honoring the light of the sun; for without the sun, life would not exist. Consider practicing sun salutations in the morning before you start your day to warm the body, calm the mind, and honor the sun. We love you, The URU Yoga Crew Like traditional bingo, there will be a card with 25 squares. But on our game, each square will have a yoga or community related task to complete.
