The HER Foundation (Honor, Empower, and Rebuild) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is committed to providing services for homeless women veterans while they transition to affordable housing. Services include lodging, meals, access to medical, dental, counseling, job placement and other social services as needed. HER will identify and provide services to the homeless and those in danger of becoming homeless. HER Foundation is committed to meeting the unique needs of women veterans. No woman veteran should be homeless.

Yin yoga postures are designed to open up the body by prolonged holds of deep stretching techniques – typically between 1 to 5 minutes in length. These techniques are designed to put both your body and mind in a state of deep relaxation. Yin yoga focus on the connective tissues of the body – tendons, fascia, and ligaments – with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. Often referenced as more meditative approach to yoga, Yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.
The second part of the class, Yoga Nidra, builds upon the relaxed physical and mental state from the preceding Yin postures. Yoga Nidra – also known as Yogic Sleep – is a state of consciousness similar to the process of drifting off to sleep. It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of their inner world by following a set of verbal instructions.
Yoga nidra is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness.
No yoga experience necessary.

There are prerequisites for these workshops! We want this to be a place for students who have been practicing regularly to grow their practice safely.
Comfiness in extended foot to hand for 15 seconds, star drills, high bird, and shoulder stand.
Don't fret if you're not there yet with any of these skills ! Monday night classes will be a chance for everyone to get these solid before the workshop.

Prudence Farrow Bruns, Ph.D., Sanskrit scholar and yoga instructor, was made a teacher of the Transcendental Meditation® technique in 1968 by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at the famous retreat in Rishikesh, India, that was also attended by the Beatles, Donovan, Mia Farrow, and other celebrities. She is the subject of John Lennon’s song, “Dear Prudence” from the Beatle’s White Album.
An opportunity to learn TM will follow over the weekend at URU Gulf Breeze:
Day 1 on Saturday for 1- 2 hours by appointment, Sunday evening through Tuesday evening at 6:30pm for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Must be clean of certain substances for two weeks prior to learning TM.

The focus of this form of Energy Medicine is based on the traditional Buddhist Master Usui Method, established in the 1930”s from the practices of Buddhist monks to systemize and download the harnessing of the life force. As a form of energy hygiene, upholding the sacred life force within you and around you, it encourages you to practice clarity as to assist in clearing, holding space for more Life, greater freedom, greater creativity to all as a form of empowerment in identifying as a Higher Self.
Reiki is an accessible and very approachable form of of energy medicine that is perfect for all beings in any field or responsibility they operate in, be it a parent, teacher, physical therapist, massage therapist, yoga teacher, social worker or uplifted human being!
Reiki is found in most hospitals as a valid addition to current and modern day medicines (not replacements) of healing in many parts of Asia and is beginning to be far more widely accepted here in the West, mutually making its way into hospitals, clinics, progressive therapies, yoga studios, schools and massage studios.
Based on the tradition of Master Usui, the Reiki program at Swan River Yoga is also unique in that it includes some of the healing energetic practices of the subtle body found in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, along with the inspirations of numerous Energy Medicine healers that Michelle, the Director of the program, has encountered in the Energy practices of Bali, Mystical forms of Kabbalah, Pranic Healing and Psycho-therapy, Polarity Energy Medicine & Ayurveda.
The Reiki System works in 3 stages.
Level 1; Clear Thyself, Know Thyself. This is entirely for you. You will learn the history of Reiki and be given tools for personal daily use. You will not work with others at all. You will learn how to clear your inner and outer environments and become more sensitive to the energy around you.

About the Director: Michelle Baker, the Founder of Swan River Yoga in New Orleans and has been teaching healing arts since 1998 full time. There, she is the Director of the Reiki Program at Swan River, has been a Reiki Master since the year 2000, studying all 3 levels of Reiki. She has been offering Reiki trainings since 2012 consistently each year. She is also certified in Pranic Healing, an Advanced Energy System created by Master Choa Kok Sui as well as Pranic Psychotherapy. She has taken numerous courses in the mystical teachings of the Kabbalah, an energy system based on the Tree of Life, studied various forms of energy from the indigenous of Bali Indonesia and certified in Ayurveda Yoga Therapy, which focuses on the energy of the 5 elements of the body and the bodies ability to stay in energetic harmony.
She has studied numerous forms of yoga, including certifications in Sivananda, Jivamukti, Asthanga, Anusara, Thai Yoga and Restorative Yoga.
