Kirtan & Curry, Ecstatic Chants Dance, Blacklight Aerial, Sound Bath, & MORE!   Back to Basics with Marni! ????✨ New Year Blessings! ????‍♂️✨ This month we are returning Back to the Basics and highlighting some amazing teachers that offer this valuable style of yoga. This week we highlight Marni! “I am a yogi, certified clinical herbalist, reiki teacher, pirate, ninja, and layman. If I had to pick a favorite place in this world to be at any given moment, it would be sitting on my zafu…so my love for my yoga mat comes naturally. I find such contentment, peace, solace, and grounding energy when I practice and if asked I would consider myself a follower of the Bhakti path of yoga. I choose to offer restorative asana practices that can help bring the body and mind into balance with the SELF while healing and making the body stronger. I hope to one day make an impact in the arena of restorative yoga for the ethnic, racially oppressed, and marginalized communities in order to help decolonize the practice of yoga. I want to help make yoga accessible to those it is inaccessible to and to highlight and honor the forgotten yogis of our nation. Surya Vinyasa @ URU Airport Mondays 7am 60 min Start your week well with breath and movement. This is a 60 minute open level practice with pranayama, asana, mudra, and chanting. Marni enjoys aroma and sound and the use of props to enhance and deepen your yogic connection during practice. Expect to leave feeling clear and ready for your week ahead. Surya means sun and vinyasa means to place in a special way. Namaste. A collaboration between two Bhakti Yogini’s & Dance Enthusiasts…. Makaylah & Madeline have curated a playlist that will allow you to explore different moods of devotion and dance. From feelings of longing to feelings of complete ecstatic Union. We will dance to the sound of lively sanskrit mantras, connecting to the frequency of ancient Vedic Deities. Each one reminding us of our own innate Divinity and Wholeness. Singing along is encouraged! Ecstatic dance is a practice of releasing your inhibitions to allow the frequency of the music to move you and groove you in wonderful, exciting & unexpected ways. When we move from the mind and into the body, alchemy occurs, and we are able to shift stuck + trapped emotions, revealing a deeper, richer connection with Self. Each dance is an alchemical journey of magic in which you are asked to surrender deeper + open more to the ways in which your spirit is urging you to M O V E through whatever emotions are present. All of you is welcome here to play, explore, and connect with your body on a deeper level than you may ever have before. You can expect a wonderful dance of feminine & masculine energies, a safe and loving space to let your walls down, and an experience that will almost always blast your heart wide open. If you’re feeling the call but experiencing some fear + hesitation, please come & bring all all of your fears with you! Then, we will dance them through safely + lovingly, together! Kirtan: Call & Response Mantra Chanting w/ Brenan & Makaylah Location: URU Yoga – 9 Mile Thurs Jan 25th 7:30 – 9 PM Donation Based Investment In this class, led by Makaylah McCleery & Brenan Woody, you will experience a taste of Bhakti Yoga. Bhakti Yoga is the path of loving devotion. Kirtan is the practice of call & response Sanskrit mantra chanting. Brenan or Makaylah will sing the chant & you are encouraged to repeat it in response! Singing is not required, but it is highly encouraged. You are always welcome to just come sit and see what it’s about before you participate. Brenan plays the hand-drum, and Makaylah plays the harmonium to support the mantras. Mantras are sacred sounds used to focus the mind on the Divine. Names of deities will be used, but this doesn’t mean that you are invoking anything outside of yourself. You are the Divine, and you are chanting to that place within YOU. We will not dive too deep into the meanings of these mantras in this class, instead- we will focus on dropping into the chanting and opening our hearts to our own unique experience. Brenan & Makaylah offer more in-depth workshops and classes to dive deeper into mythology and meaning if you are interested in learning more! There will be no Asana (physical practice) in this class. We will be seated with cushions and other supports. Dancing, standing, or lying down is also available! Just whatever you need to remain comfortable through class. We will burn incense, palo santo, or sage… if there is a student with scent sensitivity, we will forgo the burning of any scents. We will keep the lighting relatively low… but there will be plenty of light to see! ***Also, if you are unable to pay the entire $15 drop-in, we will accept donations for this class. Pay anything you are able! We just want you to show up and experience this! Venmo: @makaylahmccleery ***If you are feeling any hesitancy, we invite you to release your inhibitions and just come give it a try! You will be met with so much love, support, and patience.
