What do improv and yoga have in common? They are both avenues for experiencing the present moment. In yoga, we consciously connect our bodies and minds. In improv, we playfully connect ideas as they arise. Yoga and improv are both practices of stepping out of our own way and allowing our true selves to be free. We will begin with a short yoga practice to connect to our breath and bodies, lead by Emily Barksdale. This will be accessible to all. Bring comfy clothes and an open mind. Laynie Gibson, of Pensacola’s hilarious comedy troupe Improvable Cause, will guide us through exercises and group games that will encourage us to let go of self judgement and liberate ourselves to the present moment. Laynie has studied mindfulness at the University of West Florida and is going to show us how improv and mindfulness enhance our daily lives. Whether you’re a beginner or a veteran, you will find a warm and welcoming environment to play in. So join us as we free ourselves and have fun together! $10 Please be aware that improv is about letting go of self-censorship and inhibitions, so there may (likely) be adult themes and language.
