Arrival of Summer Solstice June 2017 Summer Solstice Summer Solstice is a time of year to honor the bright burning star called the Sun. It is also a time to remember that we, like the sun, have the responsibility to shine brightly. This year, the summer solstice falls on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. The earth will tilt on its axis and absorb the most sunlight. At the summer solstice, we will experience the longest day of the year. We are invited into summer with its bright shining sun, warm days and energetic times. We invite heat into our bodies and our minds, opening up to creativity and manifestation. We experience activity and newness. We celebrate the sun and the sun reminds us to shine Surya Namaskar, or sun salutation, is a beautiful practice during the summer solstice. Sun salutations are a moving meditation honoring the light of the sun; for without the sun, life would not exist. Consider practicing sun salutations in the morning before you start your day to warm the body, calm the mind, and honor the sun. We love you, The URU Yoga Crew Like traditional bingo, there will be a card with 25 squares. But on our game, each square will have a yoga or community related task to complete.
