We Are All Connected…. February 2018 We Are All Connected The Japanese legend of the red string says that each person we come into contact with is predestined to be an important part of our story. Whether it connects two people intimately or is a chance meeting brushing by each other on the street, there are no accidental or random occurrences. The string may get tangled, stretched, hang loose or tight, but it never breaks. The red string is the ulner artery running from the heart through the pinky finger and then out, invisibly connecting us. This is why many cultures wrap pinkies when making a promise to one another. The implications of this legend are beautiful and are shared by many cultures and religions around the world, including yoga philosophy. We connect first to ourselves through body, mind and breath. We connect to our deep inner truth. From this place, we shine out and connect to the moment and the space around us. We extend out to individuals nearby and then further out, all the way into the cosmos connecting to all beings. Atman is the individual spirit made of the universal spirit, Brahman. Therefore, we are all of the universal spirit and are all connected. Remember your connection to yourself and others this month. Send out light and love to all being everywhere. Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu May all beings everywhere be happy and free. May our thoughts, words, and actions contribute in some way to that happiness and freedom. Namaste The light in me sees and honors the light in you. We are connected. We are One. URU Yoga Downtown Closing It is with great love and acceptance that Rebecca and Angela have decided to close URU Yoga Downtown. We are grateful for the students, teachers and all those who supported this studio and the beautiful connections that were made. Great love, healing and transformation occurred in this beautiful space and will continue to do so as yoga teacher trainee and pilates instructor, Jessica Wade, takes over the space. Jessica, owner of Happy Pilates, will now use the space as a pilates studio. As Angela so eloquently said of the downtown location closing, “Bless and dismiss.” Knowing when to let go is as important as commitment. Thank you Angela, Rebecca, students, teachers, family, friends and all those who supported this venture from the start.
